Terrapin Station Sober Living NFP is a fresh take and expansion on what we have come to learn over the years through previous and current Halfway Houses, Sober Living Homes and all other well intentioned and well recognized forms of recovery programs for addicts and the mentally ill. Our Housing is intended for those who are just getting out of Prison, Rehab or the Military as well as the homeless or people with physical disabilities. We are a Dual Diagnosis Recovery House but welcome Addicts of any kind. Any House in our name is run as Democratically as humanly possible with the house Manager being near equal parts president and housemate. Unlike most Sober Living homes we allow the use of Cannabis given it is for a legitimate medical Purpose and Prescribed by a Doctor. Any Medical Cannabis must be locked in a safe and never used on any property owned by TSSL.
Unlike other Recovery/ Halfway Houses we permit the use of Opioid Maintenance Treatments such as Buprenorphine, Suboxone, Methadone and Naltrexone (Vivitrol) depending on the addicts particular situation in terms of their past, triggers and goals throughout recovery. The addicts' duration of use along with their chosen Route of Administration (Intravenous, Oral....etc) also comes into play as to whether or not maintenance medication is ethical on an individual basis for opioid addicts under our roof. Being a comprehensive Sober Living Home also means we do our best to point you in the right direction for medical care regarding addiction and any other diagnosis' you may have. In the same sense we will also do our best to
help you find housing after your stay with us along with long term employment opportunities that will fit in with your new life's wants and needs. We also help to find government support for addicts/ the mentally ill when necessary, this includes but is not limited to;
gaining Disability and other Welfare Benefits that may apply to your situation, healthcare benefits (Medicare, Medicaid or at the very least Insurance Via the Affordable Healthcare Act) and of course SNAP (aka food stamps).
We are conveniently located near 4 College Campuses in The Champaign/ Urbana Area in Central Illinois that can be reached by bus route or bike for further education/ Commute to work. We also have a house car that is used by
the house manager to get groceries and to take housemates to doctors appointments, AA, NA or CR meetings and naturally to the hospital or a Methadone Clinic when necessary.
If you have not graduated from Highschool our staff and your housemates will be there to help you study so you can earn your GED. The same goes for if you or your loved one has literacy issues or for those who Struggle with Arithmetic.
While we do not require that you go to AA everyday we strongly encourage some form of Recovery Group and or Fraternal Order outside of the recovery house.
While some people get perturbed by meetings they will serve to help
keep you busy, build fellowship, accountability partners and ultimately further allow you to adapt to your new life as a person free from Recreational Drugs and Alcohol.. Like any sober living/ transitional living home we have one Main Rule and that is;
No Drinking and No Drugging (with the exception of your Ethically, medically Prescribed Medications). One should expect random drug tests roughly once a month, beyond that Terrapin Station will be your home while you stay with us,
and you will never be asked to leave given you pay your weekly share of the rent, stay sober and are courteous to other members of the house and staff.

Your donations' go directly towards improving the lives of those recovering/ suffering from addiction, poverty and mental illness in our community. Your contribution today helps us make long lasting changes towards the lives of our clients and their families throughout the Midwest and hopefully, one day, across America as a Whole.
All funds made on our eBay, Etsy or Instagram pages;
go directly towards funding the expansion of Terrapin Station Sober Living NFP along with helping to pay staff. This helps us house addicts in recovery as well as the homeless, veterans and people suffering from mental and or physical disabilities by waving security deposits along with helping to pay rent/ bills that they would otherwise not be able to afford.
We are currently offering $100 per referral for each person that signs a rental agreement with us with a fully paid security deposit. If the person decides that they want to leave they can give us one month's notice in advance and the client will receive their security deposit back in full. The state of their deposit will not effect your compensation for referral.
If you are 50 years or older the security deposit will either be waved or drastically reduced. Please contact us with any questions.
